While we were admiring the views at Gillepsie Beach, we noticed a fisherman  and his family fishing for dinner.  Certainly a more cost-effective means of getting your organic fresh fish for dinner.

The run-off from Fox Glacier runs into the waters near Gillespie Beach.  The views were breath taking – the pictures don’t do it justice.

I loved the ice formations but never figured out how to quite get that perfect picture.  The light never seems to be there when I am.  Anyway, the blue ice is the oldest and coldest.

We landed at Fox Glacier…it felt like you were at the end of the world looking over the edge .  Our pilot Jeremy (cute but not as cute as Jesse in Alaska) toured us around Mt. Tasman and Mt. Cook, with Mt. Cook being the highest.

From Greymouth, we rented an SUV to drive along the scenic southwestern coast.  Much of the Lords of the Ring trilogy was filmed along these areas.  We drove along the coast for a few hours until we reached Fox Glacier, a national park.  We took in our first sunset upon arrival.  This is peaceful country.
