From Sydney we left for Christchurch New Zealand.  I’ve never been so nervous about entering a country before.  While New Zelalanders are friendly, we get the feeling that the government views tourists as a necessary evil.  They don’t really want to give you that visa to enter the country until you can document when you are leaving.  Also, they really don’t want you bringing anything into the country like sneakers, hiking boots (dirt is a big no-no), wood (could be a worm embedded) – you get the idea.  If you bring a snake in, that you could land you in a heap of trouble, since there are no snakes in NZ.

This photo is of Christchurch.  It was cold and damp and nothing really looked like it merited a photo.  I felt obligated to take at least one photo – so it’s always best to take one of the oldest church in the area.  I’m sure there is an important historical story associated with it – I just don’t know it.

On the positive side we had a lovely lunch with an Italian waitress who made our lunch memorable.  The sun shined and all was well with the world.
